Purpose: Provide national leadership on First Nations Housing that empowers community-controlled solutions and self-determination. The Role - The Senior Communications and Engagement Officer role at NATSIHA presents an exciting opportunity to lead the communication efforts aimed at elevating the profile and narrative of the First Nations housing sector and lifting the national profile of NATSIHA . This pivotal role involves creating engaging content, fostering community engagement, and executing impactful communication strategies within a dynamic team environment. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping NATSIHA's image and influence within Australia.The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for developing effective communication and marketing strategies to enhance the reputation of the First Nations Housing sector and NATSIHA. The main objective of this role is to increase awareness and engagement within the sector, thereby contributing to NATSIHA's overall impact and position. The Senior Communications Officer will be responsible for implementing NATSIHA's communications and media strategy throughout the organisation. This role will involve managing communication for external events and supporting internal initiatives as well. The Senior Communications Officer will have the opportunity to work with the NATSIHA network, collaborating across various disciplines, including policy and research, cultural empowerment, sector development, and communications, to build a strong national voice.The role also includes:<ul>
<li>Develop key messages across multimedia platforms such as e-newsletters, websites, media and social media content.</li>
<li>Develop and implement communications requirements across all NATSIHA key priorities, campaigns, and events.</li>
<li>Coordinate content for NATSIHA publications and resources, including annual reports, policy papers and other reports. </li>
<li>Under the guidance of the Communications and Engagement Director, coordinate media and public relations enquiries and support the CEO in media events and other external facing appearances, including the development of presentations and speaking notes.</li>
<li>Manage media relationships</li>
<li>Contribute to NATSIHA's internal planning processes, including staff meetings and review of NATSIHA's strategic and operational plans. </li>
<li>Arrange for the distribution and promotion of resources and publications where applicable.</li>
</ul>About you:<ul>
<li>Aboriginality - this is an identified position and applicant must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;</li>
<li>Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, media studies or extensive equivalent experience;</li>
<li>Extensive experience in a similar role ideally within a for purpose, social enterprise, government or charity;</li>
<li>Considerable experience in managing media relationships, coordinating media and public relations enquiries and arranging media engagements across all areas;</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast, high-pressure environment where there may be multiple, concurrent and sometimes contradictory positions, risks and strategies;</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, and to apply sound judgment when dealing with matters;</li>
<li>Proven experience in managing projects and delivering outcomes within strict timeframes;</li>
<li>Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and represent NATSIHA effectively;</li>
<li>Proven ability to advise and interact with Boards and Executive Management;</li>
<li>Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgement, discretion, initiative, integrity, resilience, and a commitment to continuous improvement of service delivery;</li>
<li>Current unrestricted “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and;</li>
<li>Willingness to undergo a National Police Check;</li>
